Welcome to FortHood.com

If this is your first PCS to Fort Hood — or your fourth — there is more to this place than the gate you drive through. There is a Hill Country, a Friday night, a small-town square, and a school your kids will actually love. Stay long enough and Central Texas stops feeling like an assignment.

The lay of the land

The center of the
Texas Triangle.

Fort Hood sits at the geographic heart of Texas — within a tank of gas of every major city in the state. A spontaneous Saturday in Austin, a Friday-night dinner in Waco, an Astros game in Houston, a riverwalk evening in San Antonio, a shopping run to Dallas. From here, all of Texas is a series of day trips. FortHood.com is your local primer for the road ahead.
